In 2024, in the Russian -language segment of social networks, the video from the Thai version “Who wants to become a millionaire” with a question dedicated to Russian cuisine became popular. We checked whether such a question sounded in the television show in fact.
If you believe the Russian dubbing and subtitles, in a quiz on Thai television, the presenter asks two participants that they put a “winter salad” in Russia, papaya, snow or ice in Russia. Girls choose between ice and snow and eventually stop at the second of these options. The presenter announces that the correct answer is peas.
The video became viral among users "VKontakte" - for example, the publication in the public" Life of this "gained more than 2 million views. This video was also divided into Instagram, "Live magazine"And on YouTube, especially often, bloggers and channels that write about tourism in Thailand did this.
One of the heroes of the viral video - Traipop lympapatThe host of the Thai television show "Game of millionaires". This is a local unlicensed version of the British quiz “Who wants to become a millionaire”, which I went out In 2000-2008. A participant who answered all 16 (initially - 12) questions received the main prize - 1 million bats (about € 20,700 according to course at the time of the last issue).
In the “Game of Millionaires”, as in the original show “Who wants to become a millionaire”, each question with four answer options is displayed on the screen.

If you believe the automatic translation Google, the question shown in the video actually sounded like this: “In which province did the breed of dogs Thai Bangka appear?” This is local breed Spitz -shaped dogs, bred in the middle of the 20th century and became popular all over the world. The question was proposed to the question: expenses, chanthaburi, Pkhitsanuloks and Sukhotai.
The people who speak Thai language in a conversation with “verified” confirmed that the sound path in the video (or rather, those fragments that the Russian -language dubbing did not overlap) corresponds to the translating of the text on the screen.
Another discrepancy is striking even without knowledge of Thai or using online translators. After the participant stops his choice on the version of “Pkhitsanuloks” (in Russian voice acting - “snow”), her answer, judging by the animation, is recognized as correct - in the Thai version, unlike, for example, Russian, this is Russian denoted red background. Indeed, the village of Bangka, who gave the name of the breed of dogs, Located In the province of Pkhitsanulok. However, in the Russian voice acting, the girl’s response is called incorrect, although the “correct” option (Chanthaburi, in dubbing - “peas”) is not illuminated in any way.

We also note that the video discusses the question that, according to the schedule, was asked in the game fourth. In the show "Who wants to become a millionaire?" The first five questions are traditionally very light, and few participants finish participating in the program already at this stage. At the same time, for the inhabitants of Thailand, the question of a certain Russian “winter salad” (apparently, I had in mind Olivier) you can’t call simple.
"Verified" found fragment The original release of "Games of millionaires" on YouTube. As can be seen from the record and subtitles, the girl in violet, having heard the question of the breed of dogs, turns for help to the girl sitting nearby in the burgundy. The last name is Vilailak TanongenShe is a titled and experienced participant in the Thai show. Tanngen answers the question right, and the girls turn to the next.
Thus, in a video where the question of the breed of dogs sounds, a Russian -speaking dubbing was imposed that does not correspond to the original. The oldest found publications with such voice acting were posted by the tourist company Phuket Guide for YouTube (16,000 views) and in Instagram (1 million views) on June 16 and 17, 2024, respectively. Despite the hashtags that accompanying these posts #humor, #joke and #Transbuhamkyumor, many other resources distributed the video already without appropriate clarification. In an interview with “verified” the “Phuket Guide” representative said that the re -sounded video was taken from one popular application, but it was difficult to name a specific source.
