Is it true that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has released a campaign video about the DPRK soldiers?

At the end of October 2024, an animated video diverged on social networks, in which the reflection of the Mongol invasion was compared with the struggle against the North Korean military. We checked whether this video really distributed the Ukrainian military department.

At the beginning of a short animated video, the Cossacks reflect the attack of foreigners - judging by the appearance, the troops of the Golden Horde. Further, the action is transferred to the present, and the same fate befell the units under the flag of the DPRK, which, against the background of Kyiv attractions, are opposed by people in camouflage. “They could then - we can now,” says a voice behind the scenes and invites to join the ranks of the Armed Forces.

Indicating that this is the campaign video of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the video was published by Telegram channels "BTGR "Kashtan" SPN "Akhmat""(177,000 views at the time of writing this analysis), Voblya (145,000), "Apti Alaudinov"(103,000),"Mishovets Yegor"(88 000),"Cat Kostyan"(83,000) and others.

October 24, 2024 State Duma of the Russian Federation Ratified The Treaty of Strategic Partnership of the country with the Korean People's Democratic Republic, signed in June by the heads of two states Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un. The document suggests that if one of the parties is at war due to the armed attack of one or several states, the second will immediately provide her with military assistance.

The fact that the DPRK sends several thousand of its military to support Russia in the war against Ukraine, on October 17 declared Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky. After about a week, this information was confirmed by authoritative world Media, US Minister of Defense, NATO Secretary General and (indirectly) Putin. And November 4 appeared news About the first combat clash of the newly arrived North Korean military with the Armed Forces.

Nevertheless, “verified” did not find traces of the spread of the viral video either on the official resources of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (website, accounts in X , Facebook , Instagram, on YouTube), neither in the authoritative Ukrainian media, nor in the Ukrainian -language segment of social networks. Almost all the resources that published the videos are Russian or pro-Russian media, bloggers or ordinary Internet users.

The contents of the video also raises questions. For example, at the end of the record, the sunbathing voice speaks the word “surf” (“now”) with an emphasis on the second syllable, while in Ukrainian it pronounced With stress to the first.

A characteristic graphic style, in particular the figures of the APU soldiers, may seem familiar to the regular readers “checked”. In February 2024, we Disassembled Another, very similar campaign video allegedly released in Ukraine. The video in which the country's inhabitants were called to send roosters to the front of it turned out to be Fakeov.

As the factor from the project “ґvara Medіa” found out, in both cases the artists had a source for inspiration: Stock Images of Ukrainian soldiers who can be downloaded on the Istock website for € 9 (or completely free as part of a trial period). Ukrainian media Use They are in their publications as an illustrative material, but they do not make whole animation videos on the basis of these images.

The number 0-800-301-314 indicated in the video does not belong to the general hotline of the Armed Forces. This telephone Department of the Retus Center for the Ground Forces for those who want to take courses of UAV operators.

The earliest publication of the viral video, according to the TGSTAT service, took place on October 25 at 17:28 Moscow time in the Telegram channel "Cat Kostyan". He repeatedly Facing In the analysis of "tested" as the source of misinformation. Thus, there are many direct and indirect evidence that the enclosed video about Tatar-Mongols and North Koreans is fake and has never been produced by Ukrainian departments.
