At the end of November 2023, social networks went around the photos of flyers with the slogans convincing the elderly Ukrainians to go to the service of the troops. We checked whether such leaflets really handed out in Ukraine.
According to publications, against the backdrop of an acute mobilization crisis in Kyiv, campaign leaflets with phrases were seen:
"You have already lived your own - go to the front!"
"It's never too late to sign up with the Armed Forces of Ukraine!"
“Happy old age is possible. Update data in TCC (territorial center of completion. - Approx. Ed.)! ”
“Age is only in your head. Enter the ranks of the Armed Forces! ”
They wrote about these calls supposedly addressed to elderly Ukrainians "Arguments and facts","Tsargrad","Komsomolskaya Truth","Reginum"And other Russian publications. Among the Telegram channels who told about the campaign,-“SLOWERS+"(368,000 views at the time of writing this analysis), Colonelcassad (283,000), Ne. Sahar (269 000), Solovyov (176 000), "Kirill Fedorov"(160 000), Kotsnews (121,000) and "Sheikh Tamir"(119 000). Many publications were accompanied by pictures and video recording, on which flyers were captured.
Proceedings often write about problems with mobilization in Ukraine. Since 2022 in such sources appear Including inaccurate news about the universal call of Ukrainians of retirement age for military service, as well as rumors about the delivery of subpoenas to some of them. According to the study of the project "Media detector", This is far from the only fake narrative about elderly Ukrainians, distributed by the propaganda media. Moreover, according to the current Ukrainian legislation The maximum age of stay in military service is 60 years (only for the highest officers), and at special position - Up to 65 years. Nevertheless, a man, even after reaching the specified age, can try to enter the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a volunteer. Problems with mobilization, however, as of the end of November 2023, in Ukraine, in particular, the Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko declared About the failure of the campaign recently.
As for replicated photographs with campaign leaflets, there are only two images: one on a stand with cells (there is also a video shot from the same angle) and one on an unknown surface.

The number is indicated on the flaer hot line The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine - apparently, who want to respond, pensioners should call him. However, generally accepted algorithm For those who wish to serve under a contract in the Armed Forces, it provides for an appeal to the local military registration and enlistment office, and for admission to the National Guard-to the center of completion or through the online form. This is how similar campaign ads look in Kyiv And other regions.

Kyiv - Millionaire city, and if the campaign was really carried out, such leaflets would be logical to place in dozens of different places. However, “verified” did not find any pictures except two virals - this is extremely suspicious and certainly does not confirm reports of mass campaign. Moreover, on the photos and videos that dispersed in social networks there is not a single detail that indicates that they were filmed in Ukraine.
Photos of leaflets (or at least news about their distribution) were not published by any popular and any authoritative Ukrainian resource-only Russian. According to the TGSTAT service, in Telegram the distribution of pictures and videos (separately) began on the day of November 29 in the channels "Military observer","Bai Biden" And "Cat Kostyan". All these resources were more than once Closed "Verified" in the spread of inaccurate information, and some even They became Her original sources.
On November 30, the Center for Combating Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has released statement, in which he called reports about the leaflets that appeared in Kyiv “the next fake of propaganda, which she created as part of her information campaign about“ violent mobilization ”in Ukraine. “They do not give out any leaflets with a similar content in the capital,” they assured in the center.
Also our colleagues from the Stopfake.org project Turned For a commentary to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. They stated that the agency has nothing to do with such campaign materials, and "quoted derogatory calls for older people are not part of a mobilization campaign in Ukraine."
Thus, all facts say that such leaflets in Kyiv were not distributed, it is a product of anti -Ukrainian propaganda in pro -government Russian sources. Note that “verified” previously analyzed other false messages on the topic of the deficiency of the military in Ukraine: for example, on the search for potential conscripts among Ukrainian refugees, about Restriction of departure adolescents for subsequent mobilization, as well as cases self -mutilation In order not to get into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
