In our work we are guided by the principles of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN):
Commitment to impartiality and fairness
The Verified edition uses the same standard for each review. We follow a single algorithm for each check and provide evidence that allows us to reach objective conclusions. We do not focus on the subjective opinion of one of the parties, including officials at any level in the government hierarchy. If there is a conflict of interest, the reader will be warned about this.
Commitment to Source Transparency
We want readers to be able to verify for themselves the accuracy of our testing results. We provide a list of all sources in such detail that each reader understands the logic of the research and can follow our path from searching for resources that cover the statement to making a verdict.
Commitment to open funding of the organization
Unfortunately, we cannot talk openly about the sources of our funding. Since in modern Russia, full-fledged fact-checking of statements by state and military authorities is criminally punishable, and some of our team members live in Russia, we try to minimize their risks. However, we guarantee that our financing is not associated with either commercial entities or the government of any particular state. These are donations from various individuals, as well as grants from charitable organizations. If we accept funding from other organizations, we ensure that investors do not have any influence on the conclusions we reach during our review.
Commitment to open methodology
We openly explain the methodology we use to select information, research, write, edit, publish and supplement our fact-checking reports. We clearly indicate feedback method on the site And on our social channels and encourage readers to send us materials for review.
Commitment to openness and honesty in making changes to texts
We strictly follow our policy of making changes and additions to test texts. If such a need arises, we make amendments openly in accordance with our editorial policy, guaranteeing readers access to information about the changes made. If the reader believes that any of the materials violate the provisions IFCN Code, he can report this to IFCN using page With complaints on the IFCN website.
