Is the video from a Ukrainian wedding in which the groom fell into the water from a drone true?

In September 2025, a video went viral on the Internet, allegedly depicting an incident that happened at a wedding in Ukraine. It is reported that the man wanted to show up at the ceremony, but something went wrong and he fell from the drone into a pond. We have verified the authenticity of this entry.

The video shows a drone flying in the distance at a high altitude with a chair attached to it, on which a person appears to be sitting. At some point, the unmanned aerial vehicle changes its trajectory and then falls into the water along with its intended passenger. At the same time, the recording contains a Ukrainian-language inscription: “The best way out of the groom.” On RuNet, what was happening in the video was most often described as follows: “In Ukraine, the groom decided to make a spectacular appearance at the wedding, but something went wrong.” In the Telegram channel "Russia now“(140,000 views at the time of writing this analysis) added: “With such a groom, death can part you very quickly.”

According to the TGStat service, since September 13, at least 240 similar Russian-language posts have appeared on Telegram, which in total received about 1.7 million views. Similar publications were posted by the channels “KB plus"(187,000 views), "Tynu40k Goblina (oper.ru)"(167,000), "Uncle Slava"(130,000), Vobla (86,000), "Russian Kolobok and green stick"(86,000), "Petya the First"(77,000), "Bloodseeker 2.0"(76,000), "Tough of the day"(50,000), etc. Similar popular posts can be found in X, Instagram*, "VKontakte" And "I cried"

In the foreground of the viral six-second video, several wedding guests are captured watching the drone fly with the prospective groom, and then watch them fall from a height of several tens of meters. After such an incident, the man could have been seriously injured or even died, but Verified did not find any reports of such cases in the Ukrainian segment of the Internet.

We used a reverse screenshot search on Google and found Ukrainian-language publications with the same video, in which the events are described differently than in Russian-language Telegram channels. Thus, some posts report that at the wedding of Ukrainian blogger Denis Povetkin, also known as Denchik Lysy, a mannequin was thrown into the water from a drone, and the real groom arrived later in a car, safe and sound.

The celebration in question took place on September 9 at the Edem Resort Medical & Spa nearby from Lvov. Numerous celebrities came to the wedding, both Ukrainian Internet users and Media. For example, like this described Povetkin’s arrival, RBC-Ukraine edition: “The holiday began unexpectedly: the guests saw Denchik, who seemed to have arrived on a drone, but the device fell into a pond. It turned out that it was a joke, and the groom himself solemnly arrived in a BMW.” This moment captured and published on TikTok by Lviv photographer Ivan Senchuk. Judging by the screams of some guests, not everyone present knew that a mannequin was flying on a drone.

On his social networks Povetkin also shared a video showing the fall of a drone with a doll, and then the subsequent arrival of the blogger in a car. Moreover, he published a black and white photograph in which you can better see both the aircraft and the chair attached to it with a mannequin whose appearance resembled the blogger.

The celebration lasted two days, and the second was held in the national style: the newlyweds and guests wore embroidered shirts. At the same time, the press brought the blogger’s words that, despite the scale of the celebration, the costs of the wedding did not exceed the amounts that he had previously donated to charity. It was reported that during the holiday they held an auction and were able to raise additional funds for the Ukrainian army, which were used to purchase two vehicles for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition, the drone that fell into the reservoir was promised to be repaired and also handed over to the military.

Thus, the video being circulated was indeed filmed at a wedding in Ukraine, but it depicts a prank staged by the groom. In fact, the drone that fell into the water had a chair with a mannequin attached to it, not a living person.
