In August 2025, an excerpt allegedly from one of the old episodes of the animated series went viral on social networks, showing a flying plane with a banner depicting the Russian flag and the inscription “Welcome to Alaska, Mister President.” We have verified the accuracy of this video.
US President Donald Trump announced personal meeting with Vladimir Putin shortly after negotiations President of Russia with the special envoy of the American leader Steven Witkoff, which took place in the Kremlin on August 6. Announced summit held August 15 in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. A viral 21-second clip purportedly from the animated series began circulating several days before the event. “The Simpsons once again predicted everything - in one of the episodes they showed a plane flying over Alaska with a Welcome to Alaska Mr. poster. President,” reported the Telegram channel “Mediaka"(131,000 views at the time of writing this analysis).
Authors of some similar publications clarified, that a meeting between Putin and Trump in the American state was allegedly predicted in a 2016 episode. So, in the Telegram channel “DPR Info" (25,000 views) stated: "This is an episode entitled You Don't Have to Live Like a Referee from Season 27 of The Simpsons. In this episode, President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin meet in Alaska, and various comedic events occur around their visit." However, in the Telegram channel “Notepad Russia 18+"(53,000 views) wrote that the viral scene with the greeting of the Russian President in Alaska was taken from the 2007 full-length cartoon "The Simpsons Movie."
Similar posts about prediction were released by channels Voblya (131,000 views), Kosti (122,000), "This is Rostov news" (70,000), "Teledno" (70,000), "Rostov main" (52,000), "Rhymes and Morgen"(47,000), "Special Operation Z"(45,000), "Talipov 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞"(43,000), Gulag (42,000), Full-Time Trading (40,000), "Privet-Rostov.ru - news from Rostov-on-Don" (37,000), "PE Perm"(31,000), etc. Also, messages about a viral video can be found on VKontakte (examples here And here), TikTok, Instagram* and some Media.
Let's start with the fact that the above episode You Don't Have to Live Like a Referee was not released in 2016 and not as part of the 27th season. The premiere of this episode took place in March 2014, when the 25th season of the animated series was still broadcast. In the story, the Simpsons go to Brazil because Homer was invited to this country to work as a referee at the World Cup. Neither Alaska nor the Russian president are mentioned in this episode.
In fact, the viral scene was taken not from a weekly episode, but from a full-length cartoon "The Simpsons at the movies", released on big screens in 2007. In the film, Homer's actions lead to an environmental disaster, which is why the government covers the city of Springfield, where the main characters live, with a giant glass dome. When the residents identified the culprit, they decided to lynch the Simpsons, but they managed to escape from the angry crowd outside the dome. Soon after this, the family went to live in Alaska.
However, in the original footage from the cartoon there was neither an airplane nor a banner with the Russian tricolor and a greeting from the President of the Russian Federation. The scene showed only a typical Alaskan landscape. An aircraft flying there was edited into the clip.
Apparently, the viral video initially appeared on the RuNet, since it is distributed in Russian dubbing and “Verified” could not find traces of the edited fragment of the cartoon in English on the Internet. The earliest post with an altered video that we were able to track was published on August 12 at 16:00 Moscow time at public blogger Denis Shalyuta on VKontakte (2500 views). According to the TGStat service, where we searched by keywords, channel Shalyuty (12,000 views) was also the first to post a video with a prediction about Alaska on Telegram. The blogger’s post appeared in the messenger on August 12 at 16:01.
Note that on TikTok you can find many other videos according to which “The Simpsons” in different seasons (for example, in the 34th or 35th) allegedly predicted Putin’s visit to Alaska. However, such videos tell various fictional stories that never appeared in the animated series. Moreover, all these stories are illustrated with frames generated by neural networks, which is noticeable in the many artifacts. For example, similar publications can be found on Russian-language pages @springfielddream7 (2.5 million views) and @simps_stories (1.2 million), as well as in accounts @dark.perception (380,000) and @simpsonowietoprzewidziel (738,000), which publish content in English and Polish, respectively.

The TikTok profiles listed above are solely dedicated to posting fake Simpsons predictions. However, under their latest videos (including a video about the meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska) there are special dies from the platform, according to which the content was entirely generated or significantly modified by AI.
Reports that The Simpsons can predict the future have been circulating online for many years. Previously, “Verified” analyzed some similar prophecies, allegedly made by the authors of the animated series. Sometimes Internet users create them specially A little edited scenes or issued fan-made work for official personnel. In addition, more than once in the show quoted or ridiculed already happened in reality events And phenomena, but on the Internet this was perceived as predictions. However, happened and ordinary coincidences, which is not surprising: the animated series already has 790 episodes.
For example, in the above-mentioned episode of You Don't Have to Live Like a Referee, Germany became the world champion in football, which a few months later actually won the World Championship 2014. However, in the entire history of this international tournament, only eight countries have won, and before the 2014 championship, the German team had already taken first place three times, so the choice of showrunners can be easily explained. However, the remaining details did not coincide with reality. So, in the animated series, in the final match, Germany beat the Brazilian team with a score of 2:0, but in reality, the Germans defeated the Brazilians in the semifinal match (7:1) and defeated the Argentines in the final with a score of 1:0.
Thus, the episode of The Simpsons did not predict Putin's visit to Alaska. This news is based on an edited scene from a full-length cartoon, where a mention of the president and the Russian flag were inserted. This is not the first such fake. In March 2025 in RuNet broke up a fake clip from The Simpsons in which Trump declared war on NATO and wanted to give Putin a cake in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
