Is it true that Maia Sandu bought the sperm of gay stars?

At the end of July 2025, Russian media and Telegram channels reported that the President of Moldova purchased genetic material from Ricky Martin, Elton John and Neil Patrick Harris worth $400,000 from an American reproductive medicine clinic. We verified the accuracy of such publications.

News articles on this topic began to appear en masse on the RuNet on July 31. So, "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" released that day, an article headlined “Maia Sanda accused of buying sperm from gay celebrities.” Edition Life.ru wrote: “For several years, Sandu has been buying illegally obtained samples from famous gays in world showbiz.” And the TV channelConstantinople» clarified that the President of Moldova allegedly transferred $400,000 to the accounts of the clinic where samples of biomaterial from “three Western pervert stars” were stored through an offshore company in the Cayman Islands. TV presenter Olga Skabeeva on the air of the program “60 minutes” on channel “Russia 1” calculated that with an official salary of $18,000 a year, Sandu had been saving money for the “controversial purchase” for more than 20 years.

Many Telegram channels explained, why “the no longer young Sandu needed the seed of gays.” For example, channel Mash (1.1 million views at the time of writing this analysis) stated: “In April 2024, it became known that the beloved politician Maia Sandu gave birth to a child in Miami. The president’s chosen one is one of the former athletes of the Romanian gymnastics team, Claudia Presacan.” Channel "Media technologist” (46,000 views) stated: “In general, it has been demonstrated how LGBT civilization imagines a brave new world. Gays do not give birth, but share their semen; lesbians cannot conceive, but take semen from gays.” Posts about “Spermogate” were shared by the channels “Sanya in Florida"(500,000 views), "Solovyov"(226,000), "Uncle Slava» (125,000), as well as users Facebook, X, "VKontakte", "Odnoklassniki" And LiveJournal.

All publications about the proposed purchase of Sandu refer to investigation, which was published on July 30, allegedly in the American version of the British magazine OK! Magazine. According to the article and the accompanying video, the President of Moldova allegedly purchased sperm samples from stars at the Surrogacy Center in California. All three donors are singers Ricky Martin And Elton Johnand also an actor Neil Patrick Harris — over the years, they came out and subsequently used the services of surrogate mothers, allegedly with the help of this clinic. According to the authors of the article, the medical institution illegally stored their genetic materials instead of disposing of them, and sold them to the President of Moldova.

However, upon closer examination of the website where this investigation was published, several questions arise. The first of them concerns the domain - okmagazine.us. The real website of the American version of OK! — okmagazine.com. Although they are visually similar, the clone site is not related to this publication.

According to the Whois service, the domain okmagazine.us was registered July 28, 2025, two days before the publication of the article about Sandu (for comparison, the real website OK! exists since 2003). Moreover, the earliest article in the “News” section is dated July 26, 2025, in the “Royal Family” section - May 31, and in the “Crimes” section - May 20. However, judging by the metadata in the source code of these pages, they were all created on July 29, shortly after the domain was registered.

Another remarkable detail: on July 31, the day after the publication of the investigation about Sandu, 14 new materials appeared on the site. After this and until the writing of this analysis, the site was not updated.

Links to pages on social networks posted on the clone site lead to verified profiles of this OK! magazine, as well as links to the sections “About Us”, “Privacy Policy”, “Subscribe to the Newsletter”, etc. At the same time, some sections (for example, with contact information) do not open - when you try to access them, an error message appears.

The author of the article about Sandu and celebrity sperm is listed as Rebecca Friedman, who actually works for the American magazine OK!. However, in an interview with the publication RadarOnline the journalist stated that she did not write this material, and the administrators of the fake site used her name and photo without permission.

All this indicates that the “sensation” about Sandu was published on a website created specifically to legalize the fake news about the President of Moldova. In recent years, Russian propaganda has regularly used similar sites that imitate Western media to spread disinformation. Previously, “Verified” had already exposed similar investigations about the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and his wife Elena, who allegedly purchased an expensive real estate in Europe And luxury cars.

Thus, there is no evidence that Maia Sandu spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on celebrity sperm from an American clinic. This news first appeared on a resource posing as the site of a popular tabloid. It was created just two days before the release of material about the President of Moldova and soon after that it stopped updating.
