For several years, a list of mystical numerical intersections in the life paths of two historical figures has been spreading across the Internet. We checked the correctness of this comparison.
The publications cite, as they say, a “shocking” connection between figures of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Napoleon was born in 1760, Hitler in 1889 (129 years difference).
Napoleon came to power in 1804, Hitler in 1933 (129 years difference).
Napoleon entered Vienna in 1812, Hitler in 1941 (129 years difference).
Napoleon lost the war in 1816, Hitler in 1945 (129 years difference).
In addition, both politicians allegedly came to power when they were 44 years old, attacked Russia when they were 52 years old, and lost the war when they were 56 years old.
A list of coincidences can be found on the actor’s blog Stanislav Sadalsky, on the newspaper website “Moskovskaya Pravda", on Facebook (there are publications from 103 And 54 reposts at the time of writing this analysis), X (303 retweet) and Telegram (publications from 106,000, 90,000 And 65,000 views).
Numerology - a pseudoscientific concept according to which numbers determine our lives and influence the course of world history. Followers of this theory, which originated in ancient times, use numbers hidden in a person’s date of birth and name to determine his character and predict the future. The most striking everyday example is such superstitions as the fear of the unlucky number 13 and a certain sympathy of many people for the numbers 3 and 7, which are considered lucky. At the level of popular knowledge, numerology is reflected in numerous pseudo-historical theories. One of the most famous is the chain mystical coincidences a hundred years apart in the biographies of Abraham Lincoln and John Fitzgerald Kennedy, two American presidents assassinated at the height of their popularity. A significant role in the dissemination of this theory was played by the American popularizer of science Martin Gardner, who formulated it in his book “Doctor Matrix's magic numbers” along with other fun number facts.
A similar theory exists in relation to Napoleon and Hitler. The first notes about the mystical number 129 that unites them appeared in American newspapers in the mid-1940s, when the outcome of World War II was a foregone conclusion. After several decades, a selection of facts migrated to foreign Russian-speaking publications, and in the 1990s it became en masse appear in Russian books, primarily of esoteric content. It was successfully combined with the textbook comparison of the invasions of Napoleon and Hitler in Russia, which ended in defeat.

And yet, what about the facts in this collection?
Adolf Hitler, indeed, was born in 1889, however Napoleon Bonaparte was born not in 1760, but in 1769. The difference is 120 years.
Hitler in fact, in 1933 he became the Reich Chancellor of Germany and very soon received unlimited power. Napoleon in 1804 he proclaimed himself emperor, but came to power back in 1799, becoming the first consul of the republic, and in this position he actually established his dictatorship in France. Thus, there is at least an inaccuracy in this point.
Napoleon occupied Vienna twice - in 1805 And 1809 years, but not in 1812, then his army marched from Paris to Moscow to the north. In 1812, Napoleon himself went from France to Dresden, then, together with the Great Army, he passed through Kovno, Vilna and further to Moscow. After the second invasion in 1809 and World of Schönbrunn Austria, until 1813, no longer opposed Napoleon. Anschluss, that is, the annexation of Hitler’s native Austria to Germany, accompanied by the entry of troops of the Third Reich into the country, happened in 1938. The difference between Napoleon's second occupation and the Anschluss (even with the wrong dates) is indeed 129 years, but it would be more natural to compare the first invasion.
There were several major defeats in the wars in Napoleon's biography. In 1812 failure his Russian campaign ended in 1814 Paris has fallen in the confrontation with the troops of the Sixth Coalition, and the end of the political career of the briefly returning emperor came after the lost Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Thus, mentioning the year 1816, which gives a difference of 129 years from 1945, is inappropriate here - by that time Napoleon was already in exile on the island of St. Helena.
The coincidence with coming to power at the age of 44 would directly follow from the first two points (about the year of birth and about the year of coming to power), but, as we showed above, these dates are indicated incorrectly. Napoleon became emperor at age 34, and Hitler Reich Chancellor - at 43.
Napoleon's attack to Russia, that is, the crossing of the Neman River by his army, happened in June 1812, when the emperor was 42 years old. Hitler In June 1941 I turned 52.
At the time of death, which occurred even before the final surrender of Germany in World War II, Hitler indeed he was 56 years old. However Napoleon He suffered all his defeats at a younger age and died on the island of St. Helena at the age of 51.
Thus, the vast majority of facts presented as “mystical coincidences” from the biographies of Napoleon and Hitler contain errors in dates, and therefore the whole theory turns out to be incorrect.
