Is this video true about the Syrian migrant who tried to stop a tram in Germany?

At the beginning of March 2025, a video circulated on Telegram and X about a person from Syria who allegedly decided to perform namaz in the middle of the road, but instead was forced to stop a tram approaching him. We have verified the accuracy of these reports.

A video of a man resting his hands on a tram as it tries to continue moving began to spread in the Russian-language segment of social networks on March 2. It was published by such Telegram channels as “Pozdnyakov 3.0"(397,000 views at the time of writing this analysis), Rus_criminal (117,000), "First People's | News" (106,000) and "Tough of the day"(71,000). One of the posts with this video on the social network X dialed 358,000 views. The caption for the video was the same everywhere: “In Germany, a Syrian migrant tried to stop a tram, which prevented him from performing namaz right on the tram tracks.” Later, some bloggers clarified that it was not in Germany, but in Hungary.

Clarifications about the location where the video was filmed are justified: indeed, behind the scenes in the viral video you can hear the voices of eyewitnesses speaking Hungarian, and on the body of the tram you can see the logo of the Budapest transport company BKV. Using a reverse image search, “Verified” found place, where the video was filmed - in the 6th district of Budapest, near the Nyugati station.

Local publications wrote about the incident, which was caught on a viral video. According to publications in the Hungarian media, he happened February 20. On the same day, the video went viral among local users. Facebook And Xwho compared the hero of the video with the Hulk and the Hungarian national hero, the knight Miklos Toldi.

The man who tried to stop the tram was quickly identified (he was already becoming a hero video, which went viral on social networks). On February 24, he was detained and charged with hooliganism. From statements The police believe that the detainee was unable to explain his behavior and refused to admit guilt. The attempt to perform namaz on the tram tracks is not mentioned in the report.

If the detainee or suspect is a foreigner, department press releases usually state this indicated. This time there was no such indication, therefore the man who tried to stop the tram was a Hungarian citizen. The investigation into the case continues, but at the time of publication of this analysis there were no new reports in the Hungarian press on this topic.

The first of the Russian-language Telegram channels to publish this video with a caption about a Syrian refugee was “Pozdnyakov 3.0", several times previously noticed in the dissemination of false information. A few days earlier, similar posts appeared in the English-language segment X And Facebook

Thus, the viral video takes place not in Germany, but in Hungary. There is no reason to believe that the hero of the video is a Syrian refugee. This is a resident of Budapest who has already committed similar eccentric acts.
