In January 2025, the Russian-language segment of social networks circulated a screenshot of a tweet allegedly published by a US presidential candidate shortly before the main voting day. We have verified the authenticity of this screenshot.
According to the image being circulated, on November 3, 2024, two days before the election, US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris wrote on her X account: “I have already told my husband that on January 20, 2025 he will sleep with the next President of the United States.” After Donald Trump won the election, the alleged tweet began to look comical, and a screenshot of it made the rounds on social media ahead of the Republican's inauguration on that date.
Wrote about this Russian media, entertainment resources, as well as numerous Telegram channels, including “Dvach"(489,000 views at the time of writing this analysis), "Dmitry Nicotin"(356,000), "ZeRada"(254,000), "KB» (244,000) and 4ch (204,000).

According to website office of Kamala Harris, the politician has accounts on five social networks: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Threads And X. In the last one, as of January 22, 2025, there was no sign of the existence of the tweet, a screenshot of which was being circulated on social networks. This post is also not in the archived (albeit incomplete) versions of Harris's page in X from 3 And 4 November. There are no similar publications in the politician’s profiles on other social networks. Moreover, this tweet from Kamala Harris has never been quoted on the English-language Internet in 2024. And this despite the fact that its alleged author is a US presidential candidate, and the case allegedly takes place two days before the elections, at the peak of the hype around this event.
Moreover, according to the viral screenshot, the tweet was shared by 58,000 other X users, quoted by more than 65,000, liked by more than 30 million, and seen in the feed by 105 million.

These are incredible numbers, even for Harris’s page in the midst of the election race; other tweets published on the same day by the politician have much more modest indicators: thousands of retweets, hundreds of quotes, tens of thousands of likes. Only one tweet in @KamalaHarris account history dialed more than 1 million likes - this was back in 2020.

In addition, millions of views in X are designated as M Views, not mi viewers, retweets became reposts after the social network’s rebranding, and citations are designated as Quotes, not Quote Tweets.

The earliest publications containing this screenshot found by “Verified” are dated January 6 - at 10:39 it appeared in the Russian-language Telegram channel “Hospital "Happiness""(7000 views, 344 reposts), and a minute later in X - in the account @nav1gatore, the link to which is in the description of this channel (172,000 views, 187 reposts). In the following days, the picture was shared by some relatively large channels, but the main wave of distribution of the screenshot occurred on January 20, mentioned on it - the day of Trump’s inauguration.
Thus, the screenshot of Kamala Harris' tweet was faked. There is no evidence that such a post ever appeared on politician X's social media page, and the view and reaction statistics shown in the image are implausible. For the first time, the screenshot was published in the Russian-language segment of the Internet.
The fake tweet was probably based on a Russian one joke, which appeared in 2016, when the favorite of the presidential campaign and former first lady of the United States Hillary Clinton, unexpectedly for many experts and political scientists, lost the election to Trump: “On the morning of November 8, Hillary told Bill Clinton: “Tonight, two US presidents will sleep together.” When she returned home at night, Bill asked: “Well, will Trump come here or should I go to him?”
