On the evening of October 1, Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel. By statement Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the attack was a response to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian general Abbas Nilforoushan, who died along with Nasrallah. According to calculations Israeli military, Tehran launched 180 missiles, most of which were shot down by Israeli air defense systems. Several rocket hits were recorded in central and southern Israel. At the same time, Iran statedthat 90% of the missiles reached their targets.

The 30-second video appears to have been taken by a passerby on a phone. In some sources, the video is accompanied by captions in Hebrew, but their translation is relatively meaningless: “Drone attacks on Israel, Eilat, Houthi militia.” At the same time, a female voice behind the scenes clearly shouts in Russian: “Mommy!”, and buildings resembling Moscow City towers appear in the frame.

Using a reverse Google image search, “Verified” made sure that this was not a coincidence—the video in fact was a skyscraper district in the Russian capital. The author of the video captured the attack of Ukrainian drones on Moscow City, what happened July 30, 2023. At the same time, dozens of Telegram channels published the video. The earliest such post that “Verified” discovered appeared that day in the channel “112» at 04:38 Moscow time.

On July 30 last year, as the Russian Ministry of Defense reported, the Russian capital was attacked by three drones. “One Ukrainian UAV was destroyed in the air by air defense systems over the territory of the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. Two more drones were suppressed by electronic warfare and, having lost control, crashed on the territory of the Moscow City non-residential building complex,” the statement said. Telegram channel departments. According to RBC, one of the drones crashed into the 50-story building of the IQ Quarter complex, which houses the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Digital Development and several government agencies.

Misattributed, this video was originally circulated on English-language pro-Palestinian accounts in X, as well as on YouTube - and only about an hour later it got into the Russian-language segment of social networks.

Thus, the video shown on Channel One has nothing to do with Israel. This video was filmed more than a year ago in Moscow and records the moment a Ukrainian drone hit one of the Moscow City buildings.
