In June 2024, the messages dispersed in Runet that the German Foreign Minister told reporters that Ukraine was able to "rehabilitate the swastika in the eyes of the free world." We checked whether this is a real quote.
In the post, which was published on June 17, the Telegram channel "Kostyan Cat - Official Channel"(116,000 views at the time of writing this analysis), it is argued that, answering the questions of journalists about the admissibility of the use of swastika in the Ukrainian army, the German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok said:
“If earlier this symbol was associated with the Nazi regime of one of the European countries, today it is worn by people who fight for their right to independence. We can say that Ukraine managed to rehabilitate the swastika in the eyes of the free world and turn it into a symbol of freedom, a symbol of the struggle for its existence. Today there is no reason for a negative attitude to these symbols if their carriers are fighting Russian aggression. ”
According to the TGSTAT service, at the time of writing this analysis of Telegram, more than 270 posts with the alleged quote Berbok were published - in total, they gained about 1.9 million views. About the words of the German minister wrote channels of TV presenters Oscars Kuchera (26,000 views) and Yana Poplavskaya (40,000, post deleted), ""The world of Mikhail Onufrienko"(244,000),"Alexander Semchenko"(207 000),"Dmitry Vasilet"(100,000, the post is deleted),"Club service"(66 000),"Sheikh Tamir"(66,000, the post is deleted),"Mriya"(60,000) and others. Similar publications are also found on VKontakte (examples here And here), "Zen"And on some news sites, among which"Politanalics","Krasnodar news tape"And others.
None of the “tested” publications discovered is indicated where and when Berobok allegedly uttered a phrase that became a viral. We did not find any mention of such a quote either in the social networks of the minister (X, Instagram, Facebook), neither in German socio-political publications. At the same time, outside the Runet, the alleged phrase Berbok is still found. For example, on the social network X it was placed by the English -speaking pro -Core account @peacemaket71 (529,000 views). There was also no additional information in that post.
The earliest of the records we found with this quote appeared in the Telegram channel "but my Yandex is a wallet". There, the post was published on June 17 at 11:44 pm Moscow time and scored more than 27,000 views.
Apparently, the authors who later distributed the contents of this post on Berbok on their resources did not pay attention to the fact that the vast majority of publications “But my Yandex Kid” are satirical. “A parody, satire on political reality. On June 18, the author “But my Yandex Kid” released two more posts about the fake quote by Berbok he had invented. IN the first He wrote that “prank was a success,” and attached screenshots of posts in the channels “Yana Poplavskaya”, “Cat Kostyan” and “Alexander Semchenko”. In second The post shows the screenshot of Twita @peaMAMACET71, and the signature reads: "It has gone to American Internet, now [Berobok] will not turn away."
Note that Telegram channel "Two major”(191,000 views) first also published a fake quote from the German minister with the signature“ Damn the Nazis ”, but then an update appeared in the same publication:“ The news from a humorous resource.
