At the end of May 2024, reports appeared on the RuNet that the Russian TV channel was planning to film its own version of the popular American project, where the stars of “The Boy’s Word” would play the main characters. We have verified the accuracy of this news.
According to numerous posts on social networks and the media, the TNT channel is preparing a remake of the series “Supernatural", and plans to invite Nikita Kologrivoy And Ivan Yankovsky, who previously starred together in the series “The Boy’s Word. Blood on the asphalt." The original series, which ran from 2005 to 2020, follows two brothers as they travel across the United States investigating paranormal activity and slaying demons and other monsters. Sometimes this news is presented without any additional clarification - this is what, for example, public administrators did “VPS"(279,000 views at the time of writing this analysis), Sketch Books (111,000) and Instaroom (65,000) on VKontakte. The authors of other posts mention unnamed media as a source of information - for example, this was the case in the public Kosti Blogges (207,000 views). However, most often reports about the Russian “Supernatural” are called rumors - this wording can be found in the communities “Cinemamania - the best films"(514,000 views), "Leper colony"(322,000), "ZSH"(274,000), "Hedgehog - about bloggers and celebrities"(91,000) and many others. On May 26–27, this news spread on Telegram, where, according to the TGStat service, it received a total of about 1 million views (examples here, here, here And here).
The rumor about a remake of “Supernatural” with Yankovsky and Kologriv was also reported by numerous media outlets and news sites, including “Gazeta.ru", Lenta.ru, News.ru, Life.ru, "Championship", TV channel "360", "Main regional", Plugged In etc. At the same time, most resources referred to these publications The Girl, which called the news about the series the rumor of the day.
“Verified” did not find any publications about the development of the Russian version of “Supernatural” either on the official website TNT, nor on the channel’s social networks (“VKontakte", "Zen", TikTok, Rutube). It was also not possible to find any reports about the sale of rights to film an adaptation for Russian television in the American press.
May 27 RTVI TV channel reported, that Yankovsky knows nothing about his alleged participation in the remake of the American series. “What kind of information is this? I don't know. I haven’t heard anything like that,” the actor said in a conversation with a reporter.
The original source of the news “Verified” was found on VKontakte in the public “Multiverse of Madness"(43,000 views), where the post appeared on May 20. The original publication stated that the information about the Russian remake is official, however description this group clearly indicates the satirical nature of the content published there: “Memes on the Arrowverse and other things. All news comes from alternate realities.”
In the “Verified” comment, the administrator of the “Multiverse of Madness” said that he was shocked by what happened, since the news he made up was the first time that it had spread so widely across the Internet. “Yes, I just watched the actors who played in “The Boy’s Word.” When I turned on Kologrivy, I saw the same photo where he was in a leather jacket, and the thought immediately came to mind: “Yes, this is the spitting image of Dean Winchester!” Then he turned on his colleague Yankovsky, looked at his photo, where he is without a mustache, and said: “Yes, this is the spitting image of Sam Winchester!”,” said the author of the public.
Thus, the owners of large public pages on VKontakte and Telegram channels, as well as editors of Russian federal media, distributed (albeit often under the guise of rumor) a satirical publication of the humorous community.
