In April 2024, a photo of a blonde woman in a dress with a deep cutout on the back began to circulate on social networks. Some claimed that this was the daughter of Alexei and Yulia Navalny, others that she was the head of the Safe Internet League. We decided to check who is actually captured in this photo.
April 8, 2024 on Telegram appeared a photograph allegedly of Daria Navalnaya in an evening dress. Bloggers paid attention to the bold style of the dress, some claimedthat this photo was taken at a reception at the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States. At the same time, on social network X, the same photo was distributed as a photograph of Russian conservative activist Ekaterina Mizulina. A photo with this caption published, for example, Pavel Basanets, former officer of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the RFVR, now living in Ukraine. His post on X received more than 145,000 views at the time of writing.
“Verified” analyzed the photo using the TinEye service, which allows you to conduct a reverse image search. Judging by the results, the image was uploaded to the Internet no later than April 20, 2017.
Above the photo discovered using TinEye is a fragment of a caption from a post, the original of which has not been preserved. However, there is a direct indication of the woman supposedly depicted in the photograph: this is a certain Svetlana Glebova.
On Facebook it is easy to find a person with the same name who fits the description - this is St. Petersburg resident Svetlana Glebova, who works in the fashion industry.
In the search for photos inside the “Verified” profile found a photograph in which Glebova is dressed in the same black dress with ribbons and a deep cutout on the back. Judging by the caption, the photo was taken in April 2017.
This photo became viral a few years ago, and Internet users “recognized” a variety of people in the girl taken from the back. In 2018, for example, statedThe one in the picture is the Deputy Minister of Social Development of Ukraine.
Then, in January 2018, online publications wrotethat the woman in the black dress is the children's ombudsman of Bashkortostan Milana Skorobogatova.
In exactly the same way, this false “recognition” occurred simultaneously in 2024. Telegram channels claimed that the picture was Daria Navalnaya, and X users claimed that it was Ekaterina Mizulina. Although in fact this photograph has nothing to do with either one or the other.
