Is it true that on the Euronews channel there was a report on the Ukrainian who damaged the sculpture in Paris?

At the end of November 2023, a video with the logo of the European television channel, telling how a refugee from Ukraine tried to copulate with a statue, was dispersed along social networks. We checked whether this story is real.

According to the report, the sculpture of Anna Uddenberg “Journey to Self-knowledge” will not be exhibited in Paris-it was allegedly removed from the exposition in the Passage de Retz gallery on the eve of the opening due to significant damage. As the surveillance cameras showed, the video was affirmed, the sculpture lost her arms and part of the leg due to the actions of the gallery employee, who was in a drunk state imitated sexual intercourse with the statue. The culprit of the incident was the 26-year-old citizen of Ukraine Valery Tarashchuk, who emigrated to France in March 2022. It also became known that a neighbor Tarashchuk previously complained to the police on the molestation of a Ukrainian to her 16-year-old daughter, but this was not evidence. The plot finale says that the refugee is detained, and representatives of the artist intend to recover € 100,000 from him for the damage caused by her work.

The news was most widespread in Telegram - in particular, thanks to the channels "The world of Mikhail Onufrienko"(240,000 views at the time of writing this analysis),"Russia now"(224,000),"Uncle Glory"(180 000),"The first folk"(110 000) and"Petya the first"(84 000).

Sculpture "Traveling to self -knowledge»Really belongs to the authorship of the modern Swedish sculptor Anna Uddenberg. This is a work of 2016 repeatedly It was exhibited At various events, such as Berlin Biennale. The statue depicts a girl who, with the help of a selfie stick, photos of her buttocks and crotch, and, according to the description, is devoted to feminism and the formation of her own image.

Paris Hall Passage de Retz Often accepts exhibitions of contemporary art, but “verified” did not find any evidence that in recent months they planned to exhibit “a journey to self -knowledge” there. This work is among other works Uddenberg Participates In her personal Exhibition in London From October 6 to December 22, 2023.

Also, “verified” could not find any evidence of the report of the report on the incident with the sculpture on the channel Euronewsas well as the mentions of the incident outside the Russian -language segment of the network, not counting a pair of obvious cases of literal translation text from Russian in social networks. Note that in the reports of the channel, as a rule, Used A logo with a white background, not transparent.

There is not a single frame in the report in which you could see the sculpture of the damaged. All photographs used in the video for this work have been in open access online.

The same applies to photographs of itself Anna Uddenberg. Frame with the Passage de Retz gallery plan is on the establishment page in Facebook, the image of the observation camera can be found in Google. Personnel of the French law enforcement officers, apparently, are also taken from publicly available videos about law enforcement officers.

“Verified” also did not find evidence of the existence of a Ukrainian living in Paris named Valery Tarashchuk. A man in a video presented by this name and surname is actually not a Ukrainian refugee, but a citizen of Azerbaijan Matlab Sultanov. In 2022, the Moscow City Court sentenced him to 16 years in prison for the murder of criminal authority Albert Heydarov. The viral video used shots from the plot of the Sultanov, which was previously broadcast on Russian television (for example, they were shown on the TVC channel).

The earliest publication with the viral video, which was found using the TGSTAT service, was posted on November 24 at 10:48 Moscow time in the Telegram channel "The crossbow says"(18,000 views, 263 reposts). The author of the channel is the Russian satirist and public figure Ivan Kondakov, who is known for his consistent criticism of the West and the Ukrainian authorities. Soon, the video began to spread in other pro -Kremlin channels.

Thus, for the EURONEWS report, a video mounted from photos and videos published earlier in the public domain was issued. At the same time, a citizen of Azerbaijan, who is currently serving a deadline for murder in one of the Russian colonies, was issued for a sculpture of the Ukrainian.
