Is the video true that Hamas thanked Ukraine for the transfer of weapons?

In October 2023, a video was widely spread, in which Khamas allegedly thanks the militant for the weapons sent by the group. We checked whether there is reason to trust this information.

The viral 12-second video shows weapons and ammunition laid out on the floor, and the male voice behind the scenes pronounces the phrase, presumably in Arabic. On the evening of October 7, with the signature “Hamas openly thanked Ukraine for the sale of weapons”, the video was distributed by Telegram channels "Live broadcast"(885,000 views at the time of writing this analysis),"Russia now"(327 000),"Truthfulness"(254,000),"Putin in Telegram"(240,000) and others. According to the TGSTAT service, on the first day more than 600 posts of similar content were published, which watched at least 8 million times. The plot was widely covered in the media, notes on Hamas gratitude on the sites Newsland, "Truth.ru""Inosmi" Eadaily, "Satellite"And others. The vast majority of publications as a source call the video allegedly published in the Middle Eastern Telegram channels, but there are no links to them.

Screech from the TGSTAT service

Single voice in the video really pronounces The phrase in Arabic, which translates as “I thank the Ukrainian forces for selling this weapon to us. We will use it against you, our enemies, we will use it against Israel. ” At the same time, there are no details in the video that allow you to identify the place and time of shooting. It is also impossible to say whether the original audio road is used in the record or it was recorded separately and subsequently imposed using a special program.

There are no details indicating the Hamas in the video - in particular, the symbolism of the group is not used, although this is a characteristic feature of video design on the official site and in Telegram channel movements. IN web archive There are saved versions of the main page of the Hamas website for October 7 and 8, and they do not contain messages or applications about weapons from Ukraine received at the disposal of militants. In channels allegedly related to the group, including those that previously Studied “Checked”, there is also no such video.

The earliest of the found posts found with this video appeared in the Telegram channel "Freshness”(720,000 views) October 7 at 22:44 Moscow time. In any popular Middle Eastern sources, where they allegedly also placed a video, its traces could not be detected. Search by news in Arabic in Google does not bring significant results, and the first (out of two found) publication with this video and signature in Arabic in Telegram was Layd In the channel ألكلدر imes imes (“Alexander Nazarov”, 6600 views) October 7 at 22:47 Moscow time. The video accompanied the almost literal translation of the text from the Freshness, which published their post three minutes earlier. Judging by the results of the monitoring of social networks, the video was first posted in the Russian -language segment of Telegram.

At the request of the "verified" the video was studied by a military expert Ilya Abishev. According to him, the video captures the M-4 machine, machine guns of types M2 and M240, presumably, the Bren 2 assault rifle and a tube from the Javelin anti-tank complex. Solidarity with Abishev and surveyed by the Georgian factory project "Myth detector"The Armament Specialist Gig Inashvili - he, however, assumes that the frame may not be a tube from Javelin, but from the NLAW complex.

Such weapon really It was supplied to Ukraine allies After the start of a full -scale Russian invasion in February 2022. However, the experts that the Les Observateurs project of the television channel spoke France 24, they note that part of the weapon shown (anti -tank complexes and machine gun M240) has never been seen in the hands of Hamas militants. For three weeks that have passed from the appearance of this video, neither in Israeli, nor in Palestinian, nor in any other official sources or authoritative media, evidence of the use of M240, Javelin or Nlaw members of the group.

Nevertheless, Russian officials and pro -government speakers claim the opposite. About Ukrainian weapons at Hamas a few hours before the publication of the check check He wrote In his Telegram channel and spoke in an interview "Arguments and facts"Evgeny Satanovsky - Orientalist and In the recent past A permanent participant in the current show on state television channels. The deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation also stated the same Dmitry Medvedev. No evidence is given at the same time, although statements cause a response from Ukrainian officials. So, on October 9, the Main Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on its Facebook page Wrotethat the Russian authorities, in the framework of the Kyiv discredit campaign, were transferred to Hamas trophy weapons from Ukraine (in this case, there are also no evidence in the publication). Already on October 10,Komsomolskaya Pravda"This was regarded as a recognition by Kyiv by the presence of Ukrainian weapons in Hamas.

This is far from the only one of the unproven stories about smuggling weapons from Ukraine, which is used against Israel.

  • A similar statement, but already without attached video as confirmation, spread on October 7 and in English. FACECHERS Lead Stories We came to the conclusion that this statement has no reason. It was placed in the social network X profile of the Leading Report website, while there are no links in the tweet itself, and on this site that anonymous authors conduct, by that time there were no articles about Hamas.
  • Two weeks later, the Ukrainian fact of a factory project "without Brechni" Analyzed another video clip With the gratitude of Ukraine in Arabic, in which the AT4 and NLAW anti -tank systems were allegedly demonstrated. It is noted that the frame shows tubes that are already unsuitable for the battle (these are a one -time weapon). The fact that they suggest that they were gathered at the battles in Ukraine. It is noted that the video does not have the symbolism of Hamas, and it is impossible to establish a place for shooting.
  • Fake It turned out And plot With the gratitude of “corrupt Ukraine for weapons for Hamas” from the Imam of the mosque in Paris. Screenshot of notes in Le Parisien, where allegedly on October 13, the corresponding statement was published, in particular, posted a Russian TV presenter in his Telegram channel Ruslan Ostashko (110,000 views). However, there was no such article on the website of the French publication, and the imam himself was at all that day He performed With a pacifist sermon.
  • "Checked" earlier Disassembled The video in which the former porn actress Mia Caliph allegedly speaks of the supply of Hamas weapons from Ukraine - the video was also falsified. And the frames from the video that is dedicated to this analysis were subsequently used to create fake plot BBC on the alleged investigation of Bellingcat of Ukraine's weapons Hamas.

The narrative that the weapons transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine allies penetrate the black market of different countries, in itself is also not new. Previously, “verified” studied reports about its use by protesters during unrest in France in the summer of 2023, as well as on the appearance of Ukrainian grenade launchers at the disposal of the Mexican drug cartel. Both statements turned out to be fake.

Thus, there is no evidence that the analyzed video shows a weapon previously sent by Western allies to Ukraine, as well as and that it has any relation to the Hamas group. The distribution of the video began in Russian-speaking Telegram channels without links to the primary sources, which, judging by the “verified” data studied, never existed.
