In April 2023, they wrote in social networks that in Poland they saw the propaganda of Russia in Harry Potter films because of the scar in the form of lightning-it allegedly resembles the letter Z, so they smeared the marks on the forehead of the young wizard. We checked these messages.
Publications on the digital editing of paintings by the Harry Potter film franchise appeared a couple of weeks ago - at the end of April. The text of one of the most popular versions of the news sounds like this: “The Poles left reality completely. This time, the Polish Canal saw Putin’s propaganda in Harry Potter and removed the scar in the film from Harry's forehead in the film, because someone can recall the letter Z and inflict an irreparable spiritual wound. ” At the same time, most publications also attached a video in Polish or screenshots from this video.
Most of all, the news dispersed through the Russian-speaking Telegram channels, among which "The first patriotic"(61,000 views at the time of writing this analysis),"Therapy 18+"(55,000),"Boiling water"(53,000), Russia 🇷🇺 Live (51 000), Nina Vatt 🇷🇺 (34,000), "I'm shocked"(33,000),"New 🅉 Ukraine"(30,000),"Batkovich"(22,000),"[Z] Kremlin's hand"(18,000),"Urgent and accurately"(17,000),"Summary"(16,000),"Lightning"(7000) and"Waiting"(7000). In addition, similar posts are found on VKontakte - as in public (examples here, here, here And here), and on the personal pages of users (here, here, here, here And here), as well as in "Zen".
The earliest publication with the news and a viral roller, which was “tested”, could find, appeared April 27, 2023 at 11:25 Moscow time in the Telegram channel “Earlier of all. Well, almost. Special operation ”(12,000 views). The attached video in Polish says: “Stopklatka TV channel deleted Harry Potter's scar. Stopklatka angered the audience that he changed Harry Potter's appearance in the film. The famous scar in the form of lightning disappeared from Harry's forehead. When watching the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the audience noticed the lack of a scars on the hero’s head. The Stopklatka channel deleted the scar using a neural network, because its appearance can offend a certain category of spectators. The fact is that the sign of lightning on the forehead Harry Potter, due to his characteristic curvature, can cause unpleasant associations with the symbols of Russian aggression in Ukraine. There was no answer from the channel administration whether the initial appearance would be restored. [Channel] HBO announced the premiere of the Harry Potter series in 2025. However, it is clear that the actors who starred in Harry Potter films will not be involved in the series. ”
In the upper left corner of the viral video there is a DGP Flesz logo, and at the very end a QR code appears with reference to chapter "Russia-Ukraine" on the website Dziennik.pl. In 2009, as a result of the merger of two publications, Dziennik and Gazeta Prawna, appeared Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (DGP). Logo DGP Flesz is available on some videos on YouTube-canale and c Facebook-Acount of the newspaper, however, we did not find the video that interests us there. In addition, there is no news about removing the scars of a wizard on the sites gazetaprawna.pl or dziennik.plnor on site or in social networks (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) Stopklatka TV channel - we did not find any references to such a story in Polish social networks or the media.
“Verified” sent a request to the DGP editor and received the following response from the deputy chief editor Barbara Kaspshitsky: “Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to verify and check in all possible places in order to be able to answer unequivocally: no, these are not our personnel. In this case, someone illegally used our logo. ”
Other minor details are also given a fake. For example, if you compare the video row of the distributed video with those officially published on the resources of the newspaper, then you can find several differences. Firstly, in All The real video from the DGP Flesz log sounds the same melody - not the one that is heard in the viral video. Secondly, the video about Harry Potter shows another font that differs from the newspaper actually used, which is most noticeable in writing the year, numbers 2 and 5, as well as letters J, R and S.
The video has oddities and inaccuracies regarding even confirmed news. So, at the end of the video, the announcement of the serial adaptation of books about Harry Potter is mentioned and it is said that it will be released in 2025. The project was officially announced April 12, 2023, at the same time, the year was not called, but Expectedthat the premiere will take place in 2025–2026 at the streaming service Max (former HBO MAX). At the same time, against the background of the video that appeared on April 27, the news note The English -language site Polygon.com for April 3, which reported only about the rumor that the series could be released according to the works of Joan Rowling. Probably a fake video was created long before the official announcement.
Thus, the only evidence that the Polish television channel removed his scar from the films about Harry Potter - a video with the logo of the DGP newspaper, whose edition refuted its authenticity. Initially, fake video appeared in the Russian-speaking Telegram channel, which previously “tested” has been caught more than once on the distribution of fake rollers and video reports of foreign publications, including American TV channel and Polish website.
