A photograph has been circulating on the Internet for a long time, allegedly depicting the young Italian actress and model Monica Bellucci. We checked whether this photo was actually created before the girl gained world fame.
The incredible popularity of the photo among social network users can be judged by at least two posts. For example, one publication of a photograph with the caption “Monica Bellucci at 12 years old” (some letters were replaced with Latin ones to bypass social network algorithms for searching for unoriginal content) was posted March 29, 2023 on VKontakte in the public “New Movies 2023” and received almost 16,300 likes with almost 1.5 million views. Second entry (the word “young” was added to the caption) appeared back on October 30, 2022 in the MyTime Facebook* community - it received 172,000 likes and 5,200 reposts. In general, posts with this photo on VKontakte (examples here, here, here, here, here And here), Facebook (here, here, here, here, here And here) and Telegram (here, here, here, here And here) more than once received hundreds, thousands and even tens of thousands of likes, as well as tens and sometimes hundreds of thousands of views. Also, a photograph of an allegedly 12-year-old Bellucci is found in Twitter, Pinterest, "Zene", "Odnoklassniki"and on others resources.
“Verified” drew attention to the unnatural smoothness of the face and neck of the girl in the photo, as well as to her hand, where wrinkles and protruding veins are visible, which is rarely characteristic of a 12-year-old child. Using reverse search from the picture we found a more retouched one version viral photo and similar snapshot, which accurately depicts Bellucci, but visually she looks much older.
In the image we found, the actress is captured in a dress with a floral pattern, and she can also be seen wearing a chain, earrings and a watch. In exactly the same attire and an actress with the same hairstyle filmed in the 2000 Italian drama entitled "Malena"
According to the site IMDb, the filming process took place from September 27, 1999 to March 15, 2000. The Getty Images photo agency database contains collection photographs from the set of Malena by photographer Fabian Cevallos - many of them show the actress in the same dress with flowers, and all these photos are dated October 1, 1999. Bellucci was born September 30, 1964, that is, by that time she was already 35 years old.
On April 10, 2016, Karin Models agency, representing Bellucci, turned on official Instagram account for her*. It is symbolic that the first post was photo young Bellucci with the following caption: “The very first photograph was taken by a professional photographer and family friend in (native city. — Approx. ed.) Citta di Castello, when she was 13 years old. They didn’t know then that at the age of 19 she would begin her modeling career. Young Monica with a daisy."
Thus, the original photo really shows Monica Bellucci, but at the age of 35, not 12 years old. Apparently, someone changed the photo using applications or filters to “rejuvenate” in image editors.
