Is it true that in Brazil they released an advertisement for condoms with the image of Putin?

In social networks you can find advertising posters, including a portrait of the President of the Russian Federation, under the general slogan "some people should never be born." We checked whether Internet users are correctly interpreted these images.

Users of social networks distribute (both together and separately) three pictures in which world leaders are placed inside condoms. On one of the images is Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the other - former US President Donald Trump, on the third - the ruler of the DPRK Kim Jong -un. It is claimed that these pictures were used to advertise contraceptives.

Such publications can be found in a number of rather large publics on VKontakte. Among them "Science and facts | What will happen if ...? " (3.1 million subscribers at the time of writing this analysis), "Interesting Moscow" (1.4 million subscribers), Wow (834,000 subscribers) and "Hernik" (325,000 subscribers). Images were placed by users of other social networks, for example Facebook*, Twitter And 9GAG. At the end of 2019, notes on the Brazilian advertising of condoms with Putin were published by Ukrainian media, in particular "Ukrainian Truth", "Gromadske", "NV" And "League".

Images of three advertising “posters” were most actively placed in December 2019, but they continued to post them later. At the same time, pictures with portraits of Trump and Kim Jong -un appeared On the Internet, back in May 2017, in the design social network Behance. There in December 2019 Placed A similar image with Putin.

All three "posters" are published in account Platinum FMD project, which is based in Brazilian Rio de Janeiro. In the section "About us" on the website of the creative agency It is saidthat its employees are engaged in computer graphics and creating images for the publishing business. Moreover, on page With examples of work, where the customer is mandatory, there are no pictures with world leaders inside condoms.

If you return to the agency’s page on Behance, you can pay attention to two important details. Firstly, neither in the pictures themselves, nor in the description of the project, any condom brand or a company engaged in the release of contraceptives is mentioned. Secondly, at the end of the presentation of the first part of the project (pictures with Trump and Kim Jong-un) it is indicated that this is a “private project”-therefore, in particular, the designer published not only the “final” image, but also the numerous sketches and screenshots of the intermediate stages of work on the pictures.

When at the end of 2019 the image of Putin inside the condom became viral, Platinum decided to clarify the situation on its Facebook page. “We discovered that our author’s series“ Some people should never have been born ”appeared on a humorous page on 9GAG and became popular, haha. Thanks, guys, and just for clarity: this is not an advertisement for condoms, this is just our creative fantasy for a personal project, ” - Reported Designers.
