A story is circulating on social networks about a couple from Yucatan who got into the Guinness Book of Records for the fastest sex. Their sexual intercourse allegedly lasted almost 8 seconds. We checked whether such a record exists.

According to viral posts in Russian, a couple from the Mexican state of Yucatan got into the Guinness Book of Records for the fastest sexual intercourse in history. The duration of the record-breaking sex was allegedly only 7.8 seconds. All entries are accompanied by a low-quality photograph of a man and woman holding a record certificate. For example, in the MDK public on VKontakte there is a publication about this achievement collected With 1.3 million views and almost 1,700 likes, it was shared by more than 6,000 people. Such posts can also be found in other VK communities, including BN (59,000 views, 1,320 reposts), "Experiments" (71,000, 600), Dark News (48,000, 430) and "Easter eggs and facts""(11,000, 100), as well as on Twitter (here, here And here), on 9gag, "I cried" And "Peekaboo".

At the same time on Facebook* There is an extended version of the story in English with additional details. So, the people in the photo are allegedly named Roman and Elisa, and at that time this couple from the city of Merida had been together for several months. The post claims that they like to film their sex and one of the videos was sent to the Mexican commission of the Guinness Book of Records, which officially confirmed their achievement. “The recording was stored on my phone for several weeks until I discovered on the Internet that there was a record. The previous one was more than 10 seconds, so I sent the video, and, to my surprise, the Guinness Book of Records contacted me to present us with a diploma,” Eliza is quoted as saying. At the end of the post it is indicated that the couple received not only recognition, but also a decent amount.

Let's start the analysis with the most obvious incorrect details. Firstly, the girl in the picture is wearing form official arbiter of the Guinness Book of Records. This can be understood by the dark blue blazer with gray stripes on the lapels and logo, gold button, white shirt and turquoise tie (other photos of the referees here, here And here). It is unlikely that a representative of the organization recording this record participated in setting the record.

Secondly, the post says that the couple received a cash reward for their record. However, according to rules, Guinness World Record holders do not receive any money. “Our role as the world's unrivaled authority on records is to celebrate the world's best, inspire everyday people, entertain and inform. For these reasons, we do not pay record holders for their achievements or for attempting a record. We are also unable to cover any costs, offer sponsorship or provide equipment to those attempting to set a record. Additionally, we cannot make donations to individuals, charities or businesses. This is done in order to maintain our impartial position and authority in the field of record-setting and to ensure that we are truly objective in relation to all applicants,” the organization’s official website states.

Thirdly, the official certificate of setting a record could not be awarded only after sending the video. According to data from the official website, all records based on the measurement of length, mass, number of people or objects, area, temperature, etc. require confirmation. For example, for this type of record, expert timekeepers are invited to measure the time of attempts. In addition, independent witnesses are required to observe and confirm that all rules have been followed.

We were unable to find the record for the fastest sexual intercourse on the Guinness Book of Records website. in English, nor in spanish languages. And fact checkers from the Mexican division of the AFP publication contacted representatives of the organization, and Alice Pagan, Senior PR Specialist for Latin America, refuted the existence of such a record. Her comment: “We have not received an official application or name proposal for this achievement. “The shortest sexual intercourse” is a record that cannot be controlled. It doesn't match ours politics in relation to records, since it falls into a category that may be considered inappropriate throughout the world.” The site really indicatedthat applications with indecent or offensive records will not be accepted.

A reverse image search on Google of the image from the viral post can find articles in Portuguese with the same photo. So, on the Correio Braziliense website it saysthat the photo is associated with the record for the largest number of barbecues, the text also mentions the company Audiomix, the Villa Mix music festival and the BBQ Mix event. Using these keywords on the official website of the Guinness Book of Records, we managed to find record entry. It was installed by Mix Forever Ltd during the BBQ Mix on February 16, 2020 at the Serra Dourada Stadium in the Brazilian city of Goiânia, Goiás State. On that day, 23,456 portions of barbecued beef were served in eight hours, with a minimum requirement of 20,000 portions weighing at least 100 and no more 150 g, they were prepared by 140 people. Note that in July 2022, Brazilian media reported: BBQ Mix broke the previous barbecue record. According to post on the Instagram* account of the event with a photo of the new certificate, on July 3, more than 52,000 portions were served in eight hours. So far, information about this achievement has not been included on the official website of the Guinness Book of Records, so the exact number of servings is not reported.
