Did the Italian ex-minister say that he was confident in sanctions against Russia until he drove for a gas station?

The quote “I was convinced that the sanctions were introduced against Russia, until I drove for a gas station,” attributed to the Italian policy Paolo Savone. We decided to check if he said this.

The quote dispersed widely through the media, Savon is quoted "Moscow Komsomolets", "Komsomolskaya Pravda", "Tsargrad", TV channel "360", "Public News Service", Ruposteers, "Novocherkassky Vedomosti" and others. Users of social networks picked it up: the quote can be found on blogs on "Yandex.Zen", on Reddit, V Twitter, Facebook and public "VKontakte".

The quote attributed to the Italian policy is found in two versions: “It was convinced that the sanctions were introduced against Russia, until I drove into the gas station” and “I was convinced that the sanctions against Russia were not in the gas station.” Often in such messages a screenshot from Twitter is also given, where Savona allegedly wrote about this.

There really is such a post on Twitter. However, the account itself does not belong to Paolo Savone, it is a parody, which is unequivocally indicated in his description: “Liberer L'talia Dai Tedeschi E Dagli Italiani Tedeschi. Parodia, Capito? PA-RO-Di-A! ” This can be translated as follows: “I will free Italy from the Germans and German Italians. A parody, okay? PARODY!".

In real social networks, Italian politicians - neither in Facebooknor in Twitter - There is not a single similar post.

Moreover, earlier our colleagues-factchera also tried Confirm the correctness of this quote and, like us, came to the conclusion that Savone is attributed to it erroneously.
