The other day, news spread across the Internet about a strange date on the theme of “Star Wars”, which was allegedly arranged by actor Leonardo DiCaprio. We decided to check if this really happened.
On January 15, 2022, media outlets and social media communities began circulating a story that allegedly DiCaprio's ex-girlfriend (Titanic), model Camila Morrone, spoke about the "worst date of her life" with the actor: "He rented an entire movie theater and forced me to watch every Star Wars movie while he ran around with his lightsaber, imagining he was fighting the bad guys."
So, by January 17, this story appeared, for example, on the website "Channel Five", as well as on other resources, including Lenta.ru, RIA FAN, "Sputnik Armenia" And "Current news". And on social networks posts about this themed date collect thousands of likes and hundreds of reposts.
The primary source of this news turned out to be a Twitter account called Le Cinephiles, the description of which indicates that the authors are engaged in satire. However, so many people believed this fiction (at the time of publication of this text, the original tweet had more than 300,000 likes and 30,000 retweets) that the authors additionally asked people look at the description of their page.
The fake is based on the real words of Jonah Hill (“The Wolf of Wall Street”) from his interview with W Magazine. There, the actor said that during the filming of Don't Look Up, DiCaprio forced him to watch the series The Mandalorian, a spin-off of the Star Wars franchise, although Hill does not like science fiction works.
Plus, there have been no previous reports of DiCaprio and Morrone breaking up, so their breakup is also part of the joke.
