Chlorine dioxide should not be inhaled as it will occupy alveolar space and may cause long-term breathing problems. In the short term, this may cause irritation and coughing. There are no scientifically documented cases of death from ingestion of an aqueous solution of chlorine dioxide.” However, in August 2020 in Argentina from multiple organ failure died a five-year-old boy whose parents regularly gave him chlorine dioxide to protect him from COVID-19. Now Andreas Kalker has been charged with illegal medical practice and selling counterfeit drugs, and faces up to 25 years in prison. Almost simultaneously with the death of a child in Argentina, Bolivian authorities considered And approved MMS as a treatment for coronavirus infection, despite protests from WHO.

At the same time, chlorine dioxide as a disinfectant is registered in many countries, including Russia, where it is used to disinfect public places, transport, public organizations, sports complexes and medical institutions. When disinfecting surfaces, it has almost 100% protection potential. 

However, Internet users offer completely different ways of using it and even explain the mechanism of its protective action.

When ingested, chlorine dioxide causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, life-threatening decrease in blood pressure due to dehydration, and can also lead to severe burns of the esophagus and damage to the gastrointestinal tract. There is no authoritative evidence that the potential benefits of oral or rectal use outweigh these risks.
