Some social media users believe that the lonely house on the small island featured in the picture is the home of the famous Icelandic performer. We checked whether this is actually true.

Photos of the house on the small secluded island have been circulating on social media for several years, but during the lockdown they have attracted increased attention. At the same time, many are sure: “the loneliest house in the world” is the place of residence of the famous Icelandic singer Björk. This is stated, in particular, numerous users Facebook and "VKontakte".

The house shown in the photo actually exists - it is located on the tiny island of Edlidaey in the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago off the south coast of Iceland. The area of ​​the island is only 0.45 km2, and there is no permanent population on it. Just a few decades ago on Edlidaey lived five families who were engaged in fishing.

Fishermen have long since left Edlidaey, but the island is home to many puffins, the meat of which is found in Iceland was considered delicacy.
