A selection of fakes about the trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard

Social networks are flooded with posts about how Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard. Therefore, we have put together a selection of several fakes on the topic of the libel trial, which has already become one of the most resonant in recent years.

In April 2022 started lawsuit between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The actor back in March 2019 submitted a $50 million lawsuit against Heard - according to Depp, she slandered him, calling himself as a victim of domestic violence in a 2018 article for The Washington Post. Depp claims that throughout their relationship, his ex-wife beat and abused him. He also stated that he suffered financial losses and that his career suffered. Heard, in turn, denied the accusations and in August 2020 filed counterclaim for $100 million. She claims that Depp beat her more than once while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Their conflict culminated in a quarrel in April 2016.

Amber Heard admitted that she defecated on Johnny Depp's bed

One of the main plots related to the long-term conflict between Depp and Heard is feces found on the bed. Many articles have already been written about this, a bunch of videos have been shot and a mountain of memes have been invented. And then at the beginning of May 2022, sensational news spread across social networks: Heard allegedly confessed to everything. According to the posts, during her testimony in court, she said that she herself left this “surprise” in the bed she shared with Depp. She also allegedly called the incident “a terrible prank that didn’t go according to plan.”

Thus, such posts in general received thousands of likes and millions of views. Examples can be found in communities MovieBlog (1500 likes, 105,000 views), Sketch Books (400, 37 000), Sex Memes (400, 39 000), "Masterpieces of Cinema" (280, 123,000), "Rhymes and Punch" (3800, 299 000), "Leonardo Divinchik" (7240, 550 000), "Cinema Mania ► Best Movies" (630, 439,000) and "Gulag" (700, 67,000).

In reality, Heard did not admit to anything of the kind and did not utter such words at the trial. At the end of April at the next meeting, testimony gave Depp's personal chauffeur and security detail named Starling Jenkins III. It was he who told the court that Heard allegedly took responsibility for what happened.

Jenkins testified about the April 2016 incident. On the 21st, there was a party in the couple's apartment in honor of Heard's birthday, to which Depp I'm late due to meeting with their financial advisors. According to Jenkins, the next day Heard told him that the previous night an argument broke out between her and Depp, as a result of which she threw her husband's phone and wallet off the balcony. When Jenkins found and returned the phone, he took Heard and her friends to Coachella. That's when, according to Depp's driver, Heard said she left a "surprise in the boss's bed" and called it a "horrible prank gone wrong." However, Jenkins did not directly say whose feces it was. Depp himself believesthat they were left either by Heard herself or one of her guests.

So Heard herself did not admit to anything, this is just the testimony of another person.

Amber Heard changed her testimony

In mid-May, new posts appeared saying that Heard had changed her previous testimony. Now she allegedly claims that Depp's dog left the feces on the bed. Some publications say the following: “What made her change her mind and give new testimony is unknown.” There is such a post in the MovieBlog public collected 230 likes and 33,000 views, and in communities "Botkin.news" And NR.Music 21,000 and 680,000 views respectively.

As follows from the previous paragraph of our collection, Heard did not change her testimony, since the above quotes were not uttered by her in court. On the contrary, the actress only repeated what I said earlier: the feces were left on the bed by dogs, in particular it could have been the Yorkshire terrier Boo with digestive problems.

According to Heard, she did not intend any pranks: “First of all, I don’t think this is funny and I don’t know what kind of adult woman would be amused by this. And I was not in the mood to make fun of anyone. My whole life was falling apart and I didn’t know what to do. I was very serious. I had just been attacked on my 30th birthday by my abusive husband, whom I loved madly, and I knew I had to leave. I don't think there was time for fun then. And I don't think it's funny. Dot. This is disgusting."

Amber Heard quoted the film in her testimony

Some Internet users who support Depp accused Heard of quoting the film in her testimony at the court hearing, passing these words off as her own. Online publications quote Heard as saying: “When I was next to Johnny, I felt like the most beautiful person in the world, and then he disappeared.” It is alleged that there is an almost verbatim replica in the film “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” For example, similar posts on VKontakte in communities Oh And "Clarkie" collected 400 likes and 22,000 views and 260 likes and 5,200 views, respectively.

Initially, a transcript of part of Heard’s testimony, which exactly repeats quotes from “The Talented Mr. Ripley” (1999), went viral on foreign social networks. But the fact checkers at PolitiFact found outthat this is fake. And the posts in Russian cite the words that Heard actually said during her testimony, but there are a couple of nuances.

Let's start with the fact that her phrases are partially taken out of context. On Twitter circulates video (almost 200,000 views), where Heard’s words were compared frame by frame with a moment from the movie, but editing cuts are immediately noticeable. On the Law & Crime Network YouTube channel posted recording of Heard's testimony, the first part of which lasts almost an hour and a half. At the beginning of the video, the actress talked about the beginning of her affair with Depp and at the 35th minute said the following (translation as literal as possible): “So we met in secret. And then... Everything was beautiful... I felt like this man knew me and looked at me like no one else. It seemed to me that he understood me. Understands who I am. It seemed to me... When I was next to Johnny, I felt like the most beautiful person in the whole world. [Thanks to him] I felt important, felt like a million dollars."

After that, for about a minute and a half, she talked about Depp’s gifts and the secrecy of their meetings, and then added: “It all seemed like a dream. It seemed like it was just magic.” Then she was asked a question, and she repeated what she had said earlier, that sometimes Depp would come to her for a few days, and then disappear so that she could not contact him.

Below is the translation dialogue (implied to be quoted by Heard) from the film adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel of the same name, where Matt Damon played the role of the main character Tom Ripley, and Marge Sherwood played Gwyneth Paltrow:

“It’s always like that with Dickie: it’s like the sun is shining on you and everything is wonderful, and then he forgets about you and becomes very, very cold.”
- I already understood that.
“When you get his attention, you feel like [to him] you’re the only person in the world.” That's why everyone loves him.

The general meaning of Heard’s words, which are glued together from several pieces, is approximately the same as that of Paltrow’s heroines, but there can be no question of any quotation.

Jason Momoa testified against Amber Heard

At the end of May, a recording of the testimony of Jason Momoa, who starred with Heard in the film Aquaman, went viral on social networks. There, the actor spoke about an incident on the set of a film based on DC comics: Heard allegedly showed him her “brown fish” while working in the pool, that is, she defecated in the water. Also in the video, Momoa allegedly showed a copy of those feces. For example, in the “Shame” community on VKontakte there is a post with a video dialed 430 likes and 63,000 views. There are similar posts in groups Fandom | Marvel/DC (3500 likes, 84,000 views), "Infopole" (5400 views) and "Star Ribbon - Show Business News" (8500 views).

Most often, such posts attach a video from the TikTok account creative_pixel_, where it is already collected almost 32 million views. There are also versions from YouTube as with Russian voice acting, and in English.

In fact, Momoa did not speak in court, and the recording mentioned is a video and audio montage. Of course, for many this will seem quite obvious, but on social networks the trial has already been turned into a comedy of the absurd, so users believe in such fiction. In addition, judging by the numerous comments under the posts, many do not understand what the video is about and ask for a translation into Russian.

Original video came out on the GeoMFilms YouTube channel, which specializes in this kind of humorous editing and dubbing of stars. The video of Momoa used in the montage is a clip from his old appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he showed “man cave” and a souvenir from the filming of the series “Game of Thrones”.

Note that the description of the GeoMFilms video states that it is “Fake / humor / editing / re-voice.” In addition, at the end of the original video there is a moment where Momoa himself "speaks", that this is all fake, but this scene was cut off for posts on social networks.
